What is Mindfulness?

Mindfulness is a method of mental training, rather like fitness training for the brain. The human brain is wired to respond to stress as if something were immediately threatening often placing us at the mercy of our physical and emotional responses.

By applying Jon Kabat-Zinn meditation practices of Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR), we can empower children by teaching them techniques to help them focus on the present moment, calm and de-stress themselves.

Mindful Presence After School Programme:

 

What?

An introduction to mindfulness for children and teens in schools. Lessons are packed full of fun activities with a strong emphasis on experiential learning to illustrate and encourage different aspects of mindfulness.

 

Why?

To equip kids and teens with the right tools to deal with external stress.

How?

Through experiential learning, children and teens will learn:

  • To quiet their minds
  • To become better at self-regulating
  • Increase concentration
  • Improve relationship skills at home & school

When?

15 lesson programme over 3 school terms. Each sessions is 45 minutes long and takes place after-school.
